The sub section (1) of Section 38-X of Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 (Central Act 53 of 1972) states that the State government shall establish a Tiger Conservation Foundation for Tiger Reserves within the state in order to facilitate and support their management for conservation of tiger and biodiversity and to take initiatives in eco-development by involvement of people in such development process. In continuation, Srivilliputhur Megamalai Tiger Conservation Foundation was established  by the Tamil Nadu State Government during April 2023 and registered under Society Act, 1975 in the Register Officer, Thallakulam, Madurai and Register Number is R/Thallakulam/Book-4/73/2023.
